Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is set to introduce a significant enhancement with the addition of a 200MP primary camera. This upgrade could finally bring the foldable series in line with Samsung’s Ultra flagship devices, which have featured a 200MP shooter for the past three years. Despite being more expensive than the Ultra models, the Galaxy Z Fold series has relied on a less impressive 50MP camera setup for its last three generations.
According to a report from GalaxyClub, the Z Fold 7 will debut as Samsung’s first internationally available foldable with a high-resolution main camera. Although the company previously released a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition with a 200MP camera, it was limited to South Korea and China. Additionally, reports suggest that the under-display camera, currently at 4MP, may also see an increase in resolution, although specifics remain unclear regarding its capabilities.
The other cameras, including a 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto, and 10MP selfie shooter on the outer display, are expected to stay the same. However, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s advanced image signal processor, there is potential for enhanced imaging performance across the board. The Z Fold 7 is also expected to showcase a more refined design, boasting larger inner and outer displays housed within a slimmer 9mm chassis.
When fully unfolded, the device will reportedly measure just 4.5mm thick, representing a significant achievement in foldable technology. Historically, Samsung has shifted the launch of its foldable devices earlier in the year. Based on the company’s past schedule, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is anticipated to be unveiled alongside the Flip 7 in July, possibly accompanied by a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE variant.
