Google Password Manager has introduced a new “Delete all data” feature that allows users to erase all saved passwords in one go. This development significantly simplifies what was previously a tedious process. Instead of having to delete each password individually or wiping all of Chrome’s data, users can now clear everything with a single tap.
This functionality is being rolled out in the latest beta version of Google Play Services. Google Password Manager has always been recognized as one of the top password management tools, thanks to its seamless synchronization across Android smartphones, desktops through Chrome, and Android tablets. Its user-friendly design and cross-device capabilities make it highly convenient.
However, for those who wish to transition away from Google Password Manager, this new option is a game changer. The “Delete all data” feature can be found within the settings of Google Password Manager. It sits just below the options for importing and exporting passwords.
When selected, a confirmation message appears, detailing the number of saved passwords and passkeys that will be erased. Prior to this update, removing passwords was a cumbersome task, requiring either the deletion of items one by one or a complete wipe of Chrome data. The latter not only cleared saved passwords but also erased browsing history, site data, cached images, and various other stored details.
The introduction of the one-tap delete option streamlines this process significantly. Ultimately, this capability provides a much-needed solution for users who have opted for alternative password managers but were deterred by the complexities of erasing their stored credentials.
