Summary
The Gmail app is set to introduce an updated attachment menu featuring a Camera option across both Android and iOS platforms. This new attachment sheet is designed to be more compact, streamlining options into Photos, Camera, Files, and Drive. While the update is already active for iPhone users, Android customers will have to wait a bit longer for the changes to take effect.
In recent years, the Gmail mobile application has undergone various alterations, some of which are significant. Recently, Android users received an upgrade to the overflow menus, enhancing them with descriptive icons. Now, Google is implementing another update focused on the attachment menu within its mobile applications.
According to information released on the Workspace Blog, this revised attachment sheet can be accessed on the compose page by tapping the paperclip icon and will soon be available for both iOS and Android users. The updated attachment menu replaces previous options like “Attach,” “Insert from Drive,” and “Insert photo” with a more streamlined selection—Photos, Camera, Files, and Drive, arranged in that order. This redesign makes the interface cleaner and more user-friendly, using concise terminology instead of longer phrases.
Currently, the new attachment sheet is available exclusively to iPhone users, as Google has confirmed that the rollout for iOS is complete. Android users may need to wait a few days to experience the revamped menu. Additionally, the Gmail support page has been updated to reflect these changes, indicating that the rollout for Android devices is imminent.
In another exciting update, Google is enhancing the Gemini app with an improved version of the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, alongside updates for Gemini Deep Research. Furthermore, new accessibility tags for PDFs exported from Google Docs now support tables, equations, and checkboxes, improving usability for screen readers and enhancing overall document accessibility.
