NotebookLM has introduced the Audio Overview feature, which transforms research into podcast-style audio discussions. This feature is now seamlessly integrated into Google Gemini on both web and mobile applications, making it easier for auditory learners to engage with content. The Audio Overview feature utilizes the Deep Research model, available for free to all users.
However, non-paying users are limited to five Deep Research reports, which restricts the number of audio overviews they can produce each month. In addition to this feature, Gemini has also rolled out Canvas, an interactive workspace designed for real-time document editing and code prototyping with AI assistance. For auditory learners who grasp topics more effectively through listening, NotebookLM powered by Google Gemini serves as an excellent educational tool.
Accessible via notebooklm.google.com, it is now even simpler to use with its integration into Gemini across mobile and web platforms. This update follows Google’s announcement about expanding access to various Gemini Advanced features for free users, including Gemini Flash Thinking, Deep Research, and Personalization. To generate Audio Overviews, users can visit Gemini, select the Deep Research model, enter their query, and click ‘Start research.’
After a brief processing time, users will receive a comprehensive overview of their research topic along with options for follow-up questions. Additionally, users will find an option to Export to Docs, along with an arrow to generate the audio overview. The overview can be listened to immediately or downloaded for later use.
Currently, the Audio Overviews feature is being rolled out globally in English and is accessible on the web, though support for the mobile app is still developing. Moreover, the recently introduced Canvas tool aims to enhance the user experience by facilitating document editing and coding tasks in real time, making it easier to create, refine, and share work.
