Get Ready: Two New PebbleOS Watches Launching This Year

Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble, is set to introduce two new smartwatches featuring PebbleOS. The first model, the Core 2 Duo, enhances the Pebble 2 design with impressive features including a 30-day battery life and improved haptic feedback. The second model, the Core Time 2, takes inspiration from the unreleased Pebble Time 2, boasting a color e-paper display alongside a touchscreen.

It’s been a short while since Google released the source code for PebbleOS, the operating system that powered Pebble’s smartwatches before Fitbit’s acquisition. In January, Migicovsky teased that new hardware would soon follow, echoing the specifications of his company’s past decade-old devices. The wait for updates has been brief, and Pebble’s revival is indeed happening, with new devices not far from reaching eager customers.

The new venture, Core Devices, is launching two models, starting with the Core 2 Duo in July, followed by the Core Time 2, which will be available in December. Both models draw heavily from the Pebble legacy—while the Core 2 Duo mirrors the original Pebble 2, the Core Time 2 brings back the beloved features of the Pebble Time. The Core 2 Duo features a 1.26-inch black and white e-paper display, and retains the classic polycarbonate frame while delivering modern enhancements.

It is water-resistant, includes a microphone for voice commands, and is compatible with existing Pebble apps. Its standout feature, however, is the impressive 30-day battery life from a single charge. On the other hand, the Core Time 2 presents a 1.5-inch color e-paper display and a functional touchscreen.

While primarily navigated by buttons, the touchscreen improves accessibility for features like weather and alarms. Preorders for both watches are now open online, with the Core 2 Duo priced at $149 and the Core Time 2 at $225. The quantities are limited, so those interested should act quickly to secure their device.
