Garmin has unveiled its new Connect+ premium plan, designed for fitness enthusiasts who seek enhanced features and insights. This plan introduces AI-powered capabilities along with advanced dashboards, pushing the existing Garmin Connect app to new heights. Active Intelligence, a key feature of Connect+, provides users with daily insights and personalized training advice based on their fitness data.
The basic features of the Garmin Connect app will remain free, while the Connect+ subscription will be available for $6.99 per month, complete with a trial period. This move slightly alters Garmin’s previous stance of not charging for device usage, differentiating it from other fitness brands like Oura that have adopted subscription models. The current Garmin Connect app offers an array of tools for fitness tracking, but Connect+ aims to elevate the experience.
With Active Intelligence, users can expect daily recovery summaries based on their sleep patterns, coupled with personalized recommendations on whether to increase intensity or take a rest. Throughout the day, users will receive tailored guidance on recovery, training routines, and movement goals, making it easier to stay on track. In addition to AI coaching, the Connect+ plan features a more robust Performance Dashboard.
This new dashboard visualizes fitness data with detailed charts and graphs, enhancing users’ ability to monitor their progress. Connect+ also includes features like LiveTrack, which alerts selected friends and family when an activity begins, as well as Live Activity, allowing users to see real-time heart rate and other metrics during workouts. Importantly, Garmin has reassured users that all existing features of the Connect app will remain available at no cost.
The Connect+ subscription serves as an ancillary option for users who desire more comprehensive analytics and insights.
