Android users can finally enjoy controller support in Genshin Impact, a feature that has been eagerly awaited for four years. This milestone was introduced with the latest update, version 5.5, known as Day of the Flame’s Return, which also brought new areas and characters, along with some stylish themed peripherals in collaboration with Ugreen.
However, the addition of controller support stands out as a significant improvement that many players have been anticipating. For iOS users, controller compatibility was introduced back in 2021 with version 1.3.
Android players, however, had to wait until now to access this feature. While it may have taken longer than expected, the arrival of controller support allows players to use physical controllers, which enhance gameplay experience significantly.
Both Bluetooth and USB options are available, giving players the flexibility to choose between wired and wireless setups. It is important to note that controller support is not enabled by default.
Players need to manually adjust this setting in the game’s menu. If you connect a controller without adjusting the settings, the game will continue to use the default touchscreen controls.
Additionally, when a controller is connected, the touchscreen functionality is disabled, which can be somewhat frustrating. Although there are some shortcomings in the implementation of controller support, it still provides a satisfactory experience for Android gamers.
Even if the execution isn’t impeccable, the fact that Android players can now enjoy Genshin Impact with a controller is a welcome addition. The hope is that the developer, HoYoverse, will refine the functionality in future updates, allowing for an even smoother gameplay experience.
In the meantime, players can immerse themselves in the Day of the Flame’s Return adventure with their newfound controller capabilities.
