Google Gemini Launches New 2.5 Pro Model for Free Users: Experience Enhanced Features Today!

Google has recently introduced its advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro experimental model to non-paying users, just days after its launch on Gemini Advanced. Although the model is now available for free, it does come with certain restrictions, including rate limits on usage. The Gemini 2.5 Pro model boasts impressive enhancements in areas such as coding, mathematics, and science queries, surpassing competitors in various benchmarks. Google describes this model as their most intelligent AI offering to date.

Typically, updates and new features are initially reserved for Gemini Advanced subscribers, with some aspects eventually being opened up to free users after a waiting period. However, in a departure from this pattern, Google has opted to make the Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental model accessible to all users right away. Over the weekend, the Google Gemini team announced this rollout via a post on X/Twitter. Currently, the new model can only be accessed on the web version of Gemini.

Mobile users can experiment with the new features by visiting gemini.google.com through their preferred mobile browsers. The decision to allow free access to the model has surprised many, especially since it was announced just days earlier that the model would only be available to paying subscribers. Google is reportedly working to expand access to smartphone users, although no specific timeline has been provided. While the Gemini 2.5 Pro model is free, its accessibility comes with limitations that could frustrate some paying subscribers.

According to the Gemini team, advanced subscribers enjoy a larger context window, and free users face rate limits on queries. This move is not unprecedented; earlier in the year, a file upload feature that was exclusive to paid users was eventually made available for the free tier. The new model is worth trying, thanks to its enhanced reasoning capabilities and significant performance improvements over competitors in core areas.
