Google Pixel Weather Widget Displays Outdated Information, Fails to Update Timely

Many Pixel users are currently dealing with a frustrating issue: outdated weather forecasts displayed on their lock screens and in the At a Glance widget. This bug appears to stem from a server-side problem that affects all Pixel models, leaving users with little choice but to wait for Google to implement a fix. Random glitches have long been a characteristic of the Pixel experience.

Features can unexpectedly go missing, such as the weather map in the Weather app, or even more concerning, alarms that fail to sound as scheduled. Recently, users have reported that their devices are showcasing weather forecasts that are several hours old, despite showing the correct location. Interestingly, when users open the weather app, they are greeted with accurate temperature and weather readings.

One Pixel user, identified as RKirk, highlighted the discrepancy on Google’s support forums, noting that while the forecast appears out of sync, the location remains correct. In the morning, users may find yesterday’s forecast labeled as today’s temperature, and in the evening, today’s forecast is inaccurately presented as tomorrow’s weather. Numerous other Pixel owners have echoed RKirk’s sentiments on forums and Reddit, confirming the same issue over the past five to six days.

For some, the outdated information is visible in the At a Glance widget, which surfaced around the time Google introduced a floating action button in the Weather app. The problem seems to affect devices running any of the last three major Android versions, from Android 13 to 15, regardless of whether users have an older Pixel 7 or the latest Pixel 9. Since the root of the issue lies with Google’s servers, users have limited options: they can wait for the situation to resolve itself or temporarily use a different weather app.

There is hope that if the bug is related to the missing weather map tile, a simultaneous fix could be identified. Unfortunately, these kinds of glitches are part of the Pixel experience, and they are something users will need to contend with.
