Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 May Launch One UI 8 This July

Samsung is preparing to introduce One UI 8, its Android 16-based software, which may come preloaded on the forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. This anticipated release can be expected around July 2025, followed by updates for older Galaxy devices.

In comparison, Google plans to release Android 16 for Pixel devices in June, which suggests that Samsung’s foldables could be the first to feature One UI 8 right out of the box. Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 is expected to launch in August.

Most major Android smartphone manufacturers have nearly completed their Android 15 updates, but Samsung remains an exception. While the Galaxy S25 was launched with One UI 7, older models like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy S24 series have yet to receive the update, following significant delays for the One UI 7 rollout.

Notably, reports from insiders suggest that Samsung may avoid similar delays with One UI 8. According to information from SamMobile, the new software will debut with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, paving the way for older models such as the Galaxy S25 to receive their updates shortly thereafter.

With a potential July timeline for the new foldables, we might only be three months away from the official launch of One UI 8. This timeline aligns well with Google’s June 2025 schedule for the stable release of Android 16.

Although it is unclear if Samsung will conduct a beta for One UI 8, it has been confirmed that the company is actively testing the new software on the Galaxy S25. If all goes as planned, Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices could indeed lead the way by launching with Android 16 pre-installed.

This would provide a brief period of software exclusivity over devices like the Pixel 10, serving as a small compensation for prior delays.
