Google Keep Update Improves Widget Aesthetics and Functionality for a Sleeker User Experience

Google Keep is introducing a revamped Quick Capture widget for Android devices, with an updated layout that utilizes the entire widget space in line with Google’s current design standards. This update is being implemented on a server-side basis, meaning that not all users will notice the changes at once.

Despite the multitude of note-taking apps available on Android, Google Keep remains a popular choice due to its free access, user-friendly interface, and web accessibility. However, its widgets had largely remained the same since the redesign associated with Android 12.

Recently, the app has been spotted undergoing a significant widget update, which aligns with version 5.25.132.01.90 available on the Play Store, although many users have yet to see the new design. The redesigned Quick Capture widget, which is clover-shaped, now stretches to fill the entire widget area, eliminating the previously unused margins.

This change adheres to Google’s Tier 1 widget design guidelines. Alongside this, the 4×1 widget has received a minor refresh; the add “+” button has been repositioned from a rounded square to a vertical pill-shaped container, while the icons for voice note, scribble, list note, and photo note are now housed in individual rounded rectangles.

Currently, other widget forms, including note collections and single notes, remain unchanged. It’s important to note that the redesign is being rolled out gradually, and even users who have updated to the latest version may have to wait for a server-side activation before they can access the new features on their devices.
