OnePlus has officially announced the launch of Android 16 Beta 2 for its flagship device, the OnePlus 13. This second beta version marks the first public build available for testing. However, it is advised that only developers and advanced users attempt to install this beta due to multiple known issues.
Users may encounter problems such as a blurry camera viewfinder, lag on the lock screen, and unexpected restarts when using a Bluetooth headset to answer calls. Consequently, OnePlus strongly recommends against using this beta as your primary operating system. Several issues have been identified in this beta release.
Users may experience difficulties, such as being unable to close the version update pop-up after upgrading, inability to adjust font weight settings, and potential device restarts when receiving calls via Bluetooth. Additionally, issues with the camera include lag and display errors in the viewfinder, unclear imagery, crashes when switching to Macro mode, and problems with Ultra Steady mode. Other general issues include screen freezes when tapping the accessibility shortcut and lag when locking the screen.
Before installation, it’s crucial to back up all data, as the current build is only compatible with unlocked OnePlus 13 units and will not function on carrier-specific models. Users must ensure their device is running software version v15.0.0.703 prior to installation; downgrading may be necessary for those on newer versions. Furthermore, it’s important to note that installing this ROM will erase all installed apps and their data.
While users can revert to an OxygenOS build, this too will result in data loss. This beta is a stock version of Android 16 and lacks the enhancements typically associated with OxygenOS, offering a noticeably different experience from what users may expect.
