Samsung Phone Users May Soon Receive Another AI Assistant Update

Motorola is set to integrate Perplexity AI into its upcoming Razr phones, marking a significant development in the smartphone landscape. Perplexity, although not as widely known as giants like ChatGPT or Google Gemini, offers a unique approach with its capability to deliver real-time answers through a search engine-like interface. The young startup has secured an agreement with Motorola, confirmed to be announced at the Razr event on April 24, where the 2025 Razr lineup will be revealed.

This integration positions Perplexity as an alternative to Google Gemini, ensuring that Razr customers have a distinct AI option. In addition to its collaboration with Motorola, Perplexity is also in discussions with Samsung regarding the potential integration of its AI assistant into Galaxy phones. However, these talks are reportedly in the early stages, with no official agreement reached yet.

Should this partnership materialize, Samsung could either make Perplexity the default AI assistant or promote it through the Galaxy Store. Despite the possibilities, Samsung’s close ties with Google make it unlikely that they will replace Gemini with Perplexity as the default assistant. The two companies have a strong collaborative relationship characterized by significant features and shared technologies.

Nevertheless, even if Perplexity is not the default assistant on Samsung devices, it could still gain considerable exposure to a broader audience. One of the key benefits of Perplexity is its flexibility in supporting multiple AI models, including those from Anthropic and OpenAI. Launched with a user-friendly interface in early 2025, the Perplexity Android assistant offers features reminiscent of Circle to Search and Google Lens.

Users can easily set reminders, control device settings, and more, enhancing the overall smartphone experience.
