Samsung appears to be considering the utilization of last year’s Exynos chipset for the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE, which could put it at a disadvantage compared to its competitors. The Exynos 2400, which was previously found underwhelming in terms of performance and efficiency, raises concerns about the direction Samsung is taking with its Fan Edition lineup.
This series is designed to offer flagship-like features at a lower price point by cutting back on certain specifications, such as the chipset, camera, and display. According to credible sources, Samsung is indeed developing the Galaxy S25 FE, expected to debut in late Q3 or early Q4, mirroring the timeline of previous FE models.
The device may utilize the Exynos 2400e processor, which is currently featured in the Galaxy S24 FE. It is puzzling that Samsung would choose to stick with an older chipset for a 2025 model, especially since the Exynos 2400e already performed inadequately in 2024.
In comparison with the latest Snapdragon and MediaTek options, this chipset may seem even less competitive. Samsung could have opted for a more powerful alternative, such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which features superior performance and efficiency.
Furthermore, there are rumors that the Galaxy Z Flip FE might also feature the Exynos 2400, suggesting that both FE models could share the same processor. While the Exynos 2400e is optimized for efficiency, it offers just a marginal improvement and operates at a slightly lower clock speed.
In response to the perceived limitations of the S25 FE’s chipset, Samsung might focus on enhancing other aspects, like the camera, design, and display. Nevertheless, given the fierce competition in the smartphone market, particularly from brands like OnePlus, it may not be enough to justify the pricing of the S25 FE, especially if it launches with the same processor as its predecessor.
