Samsung has recently included last year’s Galaxy S24 series in its Certified Re-newed program, continuing its tradition of celebrating Earth Day by promoting refurbished smartphones. However, these refurbished models come with higher prices than what consumers may have expected from the previous year. This surge in costs may challenge the appeal of eco-friendly purchases, although trade-in offers can help offset some of the additional expenses.
While Samsung continues to provide options for consumers, this year’s offering mirrors prior releases. Buyers can choose among all three Galaxy S24 models, all of which have undergone testing and repairs by Samsung engineers and their partners at Apkudo. Each model includes a standard one-year warranty and is pre-loaded with One UI 7, ensuring a reliable user experience.
However, the cost associated with these refurbished devices remains notably high. The prices for Samsung’s renewed Galaxy S24 models are available in black only and include:
– Galaxy S24: $620 for 128GB, $670 for 256GB
– Galaxy S24+: $800 for 256GB, $920 for 512GB
– Galaxy S24 Ultra: $1,020 for 256GB, $1,140 for 512GB
While prices for the standard Galaxy S24 remain unchanged, the S24+ and S24 Ultra have seen increases of $30 to $100 compared to last year’s offerings. This situation raises questions about pricing fairness, especially for what are technically older models.
Samsung offers a $250 trade-in value for older devices when purchasing these Certified-Renewed S24 models, which may ease some budget concerns. However, those interested in the upcoming Galaxy S25 will need to wait another year to see renewed options available, with the hope that prices will not follow the same upward trend.
