The latest leaks about Samsung’s One UI 8 reveal an intriguing update for the Weather app, which appears to feature new full-screen animations. This suggests that Samsung may be focusing on enhancing visual appeal within its system apps, while significant changes to the overall One UI experience might not be a priority. Reports indicate that Samsung is likely to expedite the rollout of One UI 8 to compensate for delays in One UI 7. The new Weather app build showcased in a recent video offers a glimpse into these enhancements, presenting animations that respond more dynamically to real-time weather changes.
While the overall interface remains similar to that of One UI 7, these fresh animations bring an engaging element that could enhance user interaction with the app. In comparison, the One UI 7 Weather app featured more basic 2D animations, lacking the vibrant and captivating elements that are becoming more commonplace in weather apps. The newly leaked version aims to rectify this by embracing eye-catching motions that elevate the user experience. At this stage in development, the current iterations of the Weather app only display a few animations, reflecting that One UI 8 is still being polished ahead of its anticipated release.
The stable Android 16 version is expected to launch in June, potentially making a more pronounced statement with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July. Given that One UI 8 won’t offer major transformations, Samsung seems set to incorporate similar visual enhancements and refined animation techniques across its additional system applications. Users interested in trying the new Weather app early can sideload it on compatible Galaxy devices, but there may be performance issues on older models due to hardware limitations and lack of optimization.
