YouTube Music Matches Apple Music and Spotify in a Fun New Feature

YouTube Music has introduced a lyrics-sharing feature aimed at enhancing its competitiveness against platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. This new functionality allows users to customize and share lyric cards on their social media accounts.

Currently, the feature is being rolled out for Android users, though its availability might differ among devices. YouTube Music is highly regarded in the streaming industry, benefiting not only from its integration with YouTube Premium but also from fantastic song recommendations and an extensive music catalog.

Nevertheless, it has lagged behind rivals when it comes to certain features. In response to this, Google has been actively working to bridge the gap, and the addition of the lyrics-sharing feature marks a significant step in that direction.

According to a forum post, YouTube Music is now equipped with the ability to share song lyrics, a capability that has long been part of both Apple Music and Spotify. The process is fairly simple: while viewing the lyrics, a prominent Share button becomes visible.

Clicking on this button leads to a new window displaying the lyrics, allowing users to choose specific lines they want to share. Once the desired lyrics are selected, users can customize the share card by adjusting background colors and previewing the final look, which includes the selected lyrics alongside album artwork, song title, artist name, and a small YouTube Music logo.

After finalizing the design, users can post the card on platforms like Instagram, save it to their device, or share it through other supported apps. Currently, this feature is being rolled out via a server-side update and may take some time to reach all users, as evidenced by varying experiences among those on the same app version.
