Brave Beta for Android has introduced a new feature that allows users to search open tabs by name or title, enhancing convenience for access to their favorite websites. This feature is currently being tested in beta and is expected to be integrated into the stable version soon. With this update, Brave is aligning itself more closely with Chrome, which implemented tab search on Android in early 2025. Brave is recognized as one of the top alternatives to Firefox and Google Chrome on Android, thanks to its built-in ad-blocking capabilities, privacy tools like a VPN, and support for custom DNS.
However, a significant feature that has been absent from the Android version—despite being available on desktop—has been tab search. Thankfully, this gap is now being filled with the latest update. Brave is currently rolling out Beta version 1.79.92 on the Play Store, which brings the much-anticipated tab search feature that users have been requesting for an extended period. For the moment, this functionality remains exclusive to the beta version.
The tab search feature operates seamlessly. When users access the tab overview screen, a search bar appears at the top, enabling them to locate tabs efficiently by their name or page title. Initially, the search bar displays “Last open tabs,” and results adjust dynamically as the user types. In addition to finding open tabs, users can also search their browsing history and initiate web searches directly from the tab search interface.
This is particularly beneficial for those who tend to keep multiple tabs open and wish to avoid endless scrolling. Originating from a similar feature first introduced in Chrome for desktop in 2020, the tab search capability only made its way onto Chrome for Android in February 2025. Since Brave is built on the Chromium framework, this enhanced functionality is now becoming available across various browsers. Although it has not yet been released in the stable version, its appearance in the beta channel indicates that a wider rollout should be imminent.
