Google Unveils an Enhanced NotebookLM Designed Specifically for Mobile Devices

NotebookLM is set to launch dedicated mobile apps for both Android and iOS platforms. Recently, the app was spotted on the Google Play Store and App Store, showcasing its design and key features.

The mobile application will include tabs such as “Recent,” “Shared,” “Title,” and “Downloaded,” and it will support various input types. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly with the share sheet.

Despite being introduced in 2023, NotebookLM gained significant popularity only recently, thanks to features like mind maps and interactive podcasts. However, Google’s strategy for expanding NotebookLM’s reach goes beyond just adding new functionalities.

The company is also developing tailored versions of NotebookLM for specific devices. For instance, there are plans to launch it as a web app in the ChromeOS app drawer.

The newly anticipated Android app, which is nearing its release, is expected to have a substantial impact. Users can pre-register for the app on the Google Play Store, where it is officially listed.

The app interface will feature four main tabs along with a “Create new” button. Users will be able to add sources such as PDFs, websites, YouTube links, and copied text.

Once installed, NotebookLM will reside on the share sheet, allowing for quick sharing of PDFs directly from the device. As for the launch date, while the Google Play Store listing does not specify when NotebookLM will be available, the App Store mentions it is expected to release on May 20, 2025, coinciding with the Google I/O event.

This date could also provide opportunities for hands-on demos of the app’s functionality across both Android and iOS. While further details on the app’s stability have yet to be confirmed, sources suggest that a beta version may become available in the coming weeks, promising an array of productivity features for users.
