Samsung is anticipated to launch the One UI 8 beta program in the third week of May. The company’s objective seems to be rolling out One UI 8 to the stable channel by July. This upcoming version is expected to focus primarily on enhancements rather than major overhauls. Recently, Samsung completed the rollout of One UI 7 to its compatible flagship devices, but speculation regarding One UI 8 has already begun.
Early firmware leaks suggest that the new Android skin may not introduce significant changes. To compensate for the delays experienced with One UI 7’s launch, Samsung is reportedly planning to expedite the One UI 8 release, aiming for as soon as July. To facilitate this, the One UI 8 beta program is expected to commence later this month. According to reports from SamMobile, the beta program based on Android 16 will be made available for selected flagship models in mid-May.
This schedule is earlier than previous rumors, which suggested that the One UI 8 beta might not arrive until June 2025. Even with the anticipated launch of the beta program, it is likely limited to the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung’s flagship for 2025. Samsung typically initiates beta testing for new iterations of its Android skin several months ahead of the public release. This year, the company began its public beta testing for One UI 6 in August 2023 and released the stable version by late October.
The previous version, One UI 7 based on Android 15, was an exception, with beta testing only starting in early December 2024. With Android 16 set to launch earlier, in June, it logically follows that Samsung would advance the One UI 8 beta program timeline as well. This shift in schedule has led to an earlier-than-usual leak cycle for One UI 8 this year.
