Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge: Sleek Design, But Sales Figures Tell a Different Story

The Galaxy S25 Edge is notable for its slim design, measuring just 5.8mm thick and weighing 163g. However, these appealing dimensions have come at a cost. The device omits a telephoto lens and contains a smaller 3,900mAh battery, which has led to concerns about its overall performance. Early sales figures for the S25 Edge are reportedly falling short of Samsung’s expectations.

Uncharacteristically, Samsung has not released pre-order data in South Korea, raising eyebrows about the device’s initial reception. To counteract potential weak sales, the company has started enhancing pre-order incentives and promotional deals across various markets. While the S25 Edge is not a poor-quality phone, the compromises made for a sleeker design only appeal to certain consumers. The device features a 6.7-inch display, but compared to the Galaxy S25+, which is 7.3mm thick and weighs 190g, the S25 Edge’s design choices might limit its attractiveness for some users.

Pre-orders for the device began in mid-May, culminating in its official release last week. However, reports from sources like SamMobile suggest that demand for the device has not met Samsung’s expectations. Notably, the company’s silence on pre-order figures could be a sign of a less than enthusiastic response, as it usually highlights successful launches with strong sales data. In an attempt to stimulate interest, Samsung is offering significant promotions in markets like the UK and the US.

For example, customers in the UK can receive a free Galaxy Tab A9+ with a purchase, while US buyers can benefit from substantial discounts on complementary products such as the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Buds 3 Pro. The effectiveness of these promotions in boosting sales remains uncertain.
