Samsung is set to unveil its latest foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, next month. Following the annual tradition, these new models are currently going through multiple regulatory certification processes. This year, however, they will not be alone; Samsung is also anticipated to introduce its first-ever Fan Edition (FE) foldable during the Unpacked event. Recent leaks have provided a wealth of information about the FE flip phone, further solidified by its recent appearance on the FCC certification list.
According to sources, including SammyGuru, this model, identified by the number SM-F761U, matches the identifiers seen in earlier leaks of the Z Flip 7 FE. The device cleared regulatory approval on June 9, confirming its eligibility for sale in the United States. The FCC documentation indicates that the FE flip phone will offer advanced connectivity options. It is expected to support Wi-Fi 6e and a variety of 5G bands, including n5, n7, n12, and many others.
Additionally, tests for wireless charging capabilities and support for NFC services, such as Google Pay and Samsung Pay, have also been confirmed. Moreover, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has also completed its FCC certification, appearing under the model number SM-F966B. Approved on June 6, this device promises innovative features, including Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and Wi-Fi 6e support. Critics highlight that the Z Fold 7 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is expected to be an overclocked version tailored specifically for Galaxy devices.
In terms of design, the upcoming Z Fold 7 is projected to have a more streamlined profile. The current Z Fold 6 measures 12.2mm when folded and 6.1mm when opened, but the new model is expected to achieve a thickness of just 9mm when folded and 4.54mm when unfolded.
