Android 16 made its debut with the Pixel lineup during the June 2025 Feature Drop, introducing several exciting features such as the Pixel VIPs widget and AI-driven editing tools in Google Photos. Additionally, an “education hub” was announced for the Pixel Camera app, designed to assist users in navigating its various features through tips and sample shots. Despite this announcement, the hub did not launch with the June 2025 update.
As the month drew to a close, Google began fulfilling its commitment by releasing the education hub within the Pixel Camera app. Users can now find a “?” icon located in the top-right corner of the app’s toolbar.
Clicking this icon opens the education hub, which provides information on the camera’s different modes and usage instructions. To enhance understanding, Google includes sample photos taken by the Pixel community, showcasing each mode’s capabilities. At the bottom of the education hub, users will find tips covering topics like 10-bit HDR video recording, manual lens recording, Pro controls, and the locked folder feature.
Interestingly, there is no mention of the Social share feature, indicating its likely discontinuation by Google. For new Pixel users, this education hub can be a valuable resource. While seasoned Pixel enthusiasts may not find much use in it, the hub presents an excellent introduction for novices wanting to explore their Pixel phone’s camera, especially for features like Action Pan, Long Exposure, and Astro.
The sample shots significantly highlight the imaging prowess of the Pixel camera. This feature updates appeared on the Pixel 8 Pro on the stable Android 16 build, alongside the latest Pixel Camera app (v9.9). Early adopters, including the team at Android Authority, have successfully accessed the education hub, suggesting a broader rollout by Google.
However, users need to ensure that their Pixel Camera app is updated to the latest version to access this new feature.
