Google has been steadily rolling out updates to its applications, aligning them with the new user experience design philosophy called Material 3 Expressive. Recently, a Reddit user, u/issayrobles, shared screenshots of the revamped Google Wallet interface that incorporate elements from this design framework.
According to reports from Android Authority, this updated design is now being distributed more widely through a Play services update. The revised Google Wallet app features several expressive components that users have come to expect.
These include well-defined list items organized into cards, toggle buttons that clearly indicate their on and off states, and a more prominent floating action button (FAB) designed for adding new documents. Screenshots from Android Authority align with the earlier Reddit images, though the latter displayed the app using a dark theme.
The new design is reportedly compatible with version 25.24.772650276 of Google Wallet, although it also requires Google Play services version 25.25, which started rolling out recently. While some users were able to access the new interface last week, it appears that the rollout is being conducted in phases.
Even though I have the latest versions of both Google Wallet and Google Play services on my Pixel 9 Pro, I have not yet seen the redesign. Nevertheless, with the necessary app updates now available, it is likely that most users will soon experience the refreshed look on their devices.
