If you have been considering a clamshell foldable phone as your main device but are worried about the high price, there’s good news. Samsung has just introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
While it may not fall into the ‘cheap’ or ‘budget’ category, it offers a refreshed version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 at a more approachable price of $900. Despite being less expensive than other foldables, $900 is still a significant investment.
Typically, you might have the option to spread out the payments, making it easier to manage. However, with the Z Flip 7 FE, your financing options are limited.
You will need to utilize Samsung’s financing plans or go through other retail partners since the device will not be available through US carriers. Major carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon are not offering the Z Flip 7 FE at all, which excludes the most common financing methods.
These carriers are still promoting financing for the flagship Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7, yet the Fan Edition remains absent from their offerings. For those interested in financing the Z Flip 7 FE, your best bet is to go through Samsung or retailers like Best Buy.
Additionally, Samsung’s official website provides unlocked and carrier-locked versions for the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, but only the unlocked version of the Z Flip 7 FE is available. Similarly, Best Buy offers carrier-locked options for the flagship models but only showcases unlocked versions for the Fan Edition.
The reason behind this decision is not yet clear. It may be an attempt to boost sales of the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 or perhaps an expectation of lower demand for the Z Flip 7 FE due to its generation-old hardware and the $900 price point.
We have reached out to the carriers for additional information and will provide updates as we receive them.
