Google Resolves Major Frustration with the Gemini Assistant: A Game-Changer for Users

Samsung has rolled out updates for its Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 devices, showcasing the new features of the Gemini overlay. This update integrates Google’s AI, making significant improvements to the user experience while retaining core functionalities powered by Google. At Samsung’s recent Unpacked event, Google unveiled various enhancements for the Gemini AI, which comes pre-installed on the latest Galaxy devices.

Notably, this includes the Gemini Live feature, now capable of running on the cover screen of the Z Flip 7, enabling access to information from Samsung apps—a functionality that was previously limited strictly to the standard Gemini experience. A particular highlight of the new features is the Circle to Search functionality, which first rolls out on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7. Both devices also benefit from an important upgrade to the Gemini interface that allows users to access the full Gemini app experience more easily.

Previously, to open the full Gemini app, users needed to navigate through the app drawer or initiate it through the Gemini overlay after starting a conversation. Alternatively, there was a workaround by tapping the Gemini Live icon and quickly exiting back to the main screen. The new update introduces a dedicated handle in the overlay that lets users swipe up to enter the full-screen Gemini app, streamlining the process significantly.

This change, reported initially by Android Authority, enhances the flexibility of Gemini usage, allowing users to switch between different models within the app without being restricted to the default Flash model. While this feature is set to expand to other smartphones, including those from Google, no specific timeline for its wider release has been established yet.
