Samsung Galaxy S25 and S24 Receive Latest July Security Update

Samsung and Google are typically quick to implement updates for their devices, particularly concerning monthly security patches. However, Google’s July update for Pixel devices was notably different as it did not include any new security patches.

In contrast, Samsung has begun rolling out its July 2025 security patch for both the Galaxy S25 and S24 series. The July 2025 firmware update for Samsung’s flagship devices addresses 40 security vulnerabilities, one of which is classified as critical.

Additionally, the update includes a patch from Samsung Semiconductor. As of now, the update is available in South Korea, with users able to download it directly via the software update feature in their settings.

The firmware for the Galaxy S25, identified as AYF6, is approximately 538MB, while the S24’s BYF1 firmware is slightly smaller at 468MB. Given these sizes, users should not expect significant features beyond the necessary security patches.

Both smartphones also receive a new v5 bootloader as part of this update, which prepares them for the eventual stable release of One UI 8. Moreover, with this updated bootloader, users of the Galaxy S25 on the One UI 8 beta can now revert to One UI 7 if desired.

Samsung is expected to broaden the availability of the July patch for the Galaxy S25 and S24 to more regions in the upcoming weeks and months. For users in South Korea, it’s straightforward to access this update through Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The Galaxy S25 combines impressive performance and efficiency, featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB of RAM, all housed within a sleek design. With advanced capabilities powered by Galaxy AI, it truly meets the expectations of a modern flagship smartphone.
