Samsung Officially Reveals Launch Plans for Its Inaugural Tri-Folding Smartphone

Recent rumors suggest that Samsung is planning to launch its first tri-fold smartphone later this year. Initially, many anticipated that the device would be unveiled during the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 showcase at the July Unpacked event.

However, Samsung did not mention the tri-fold device during the presentation. Despite this, the company has confirmed its intention to release the device in 2023.

Roh Tae-moon, Samsung’s acting head of Device Experience Division, stated that the company is committed to developing the tri-fold smartphone, aiming for a launch by year’s end. Roh emphasized their focus on refining both the product and its usability, though he noted that they have not yet finalized its name.

As the device approaches completion, a definitive decision will be made regarding its title. While Samsung’s January and July Unpacked events are notable, it is expected that the company will hold another launch event later this year for its new device.

Leaks regarding Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone indicate that it may feature a substantial 10-inch display and a robust titanium frame for enhanced durability. The device is anticipated to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, with essential features echoing those of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Recently, hidden animation files found in the One UI 8 beta firmware hinted at the design of the tri-fold smartphone, revealing that it might bear a strong resemblance to the Z Fold 7 but with an additional folding panel. When the tri-fold phone finally hits the market, it is expected to be released in limited quantities and select regions.

The price may be steep, potentially reaching as high as $3,000, especially considering that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 already starts at $2,000.
