Google Calendar has recently updated its mobile application, replacing the much-loved ‘Schedule’ view with ‘Day’ view as the default when users tap on a date in the ‘Month’ view. This change has sparked disappointment and frustration among users, who have taken to Google’s Community forum to voice their concerns and request the return of the previous functionality. The ‘Schedule’ view allowed for a quick and scrollable overview of upcoming events, a feature many users found essential.
The Google Calendar app, which integrates seamlessly with the broader Google ecosystem, has become a daily staple for many. It offers a user-friendly interface, automatic event reminders, shortcuts, calendar sharing options, and extensions, among other features. However, since the update that went live in late February, many users have been left searching for alternatives.
The mobile version features five views: Schedule, Day, 3 days, Week, and Month, each providing different layouts for event organization. Previously, when users tapped on a specific day within the monthly view, they’d be taken to the Schedule view, showcasing events for that day and the following days. Now, the update directs users to the ‘Day’ view, which has led to widespread dissatisfaction with version 2025.09.1-732918122 of Google Calendar.
While a workaround exists, allowing users to return to the Schedule view by tapping the date in the top left corner of the ‘Day’ view, many find this solution insufficient. Users have expressed their frustrations, with some even considering switching to other calendar applications if changes are not made. Despite the pushback, the change affects both Android and iOS platforms, prompting many to hope for a swift resolution from Google.
