Google is not anticipated to make significant changes to the design of the Pixel Watch 4 compared to its predecessors. However, the company seems to be focusing on improving the selection of band colors and materials. If the overall design remains unchanged, attracting consumer interest through innovative color options becomes essential. The Pixel Watch 3 is available in silver, champagne gold, black, and hazel, depending on the selected case size.
The upcoming Pixel Watch 4 is expected to launch in various colors, including black, silver, gold, and a unique “moonstone.” This color is often associated with blue hues and is rarely seen on smartwatches. While Apple introduced a blue variant with the Apple Watch 7, it was not continued in subsequent models. In addition to the new watch colors, Google is expected to release an array of Active bands that feature complementary colors. These may include white, black, and moonstone options, along with Sport bands in shades like indigo, iris, and a yellow variant referred to as “Limoncello.” These color choices build on recent leaks regarding the Pixel Watch 4’s color palette.
Another potential improvement involves the materials used for the Active Bands. Reports suggest that Google may have selected a new, more comfortable material, addressing flexibility concerns seen in earlier models. The current bands are made from fluoroelastomer, which has been linked to health risks due to the presence of PFAS chemicals. By switching materials, Google may aim to distance itself from this issue.
Samsung’s introduction of a new cushion-style case for the Galaxy Watch 8 showcases a different design approach that helps grab attention. If the Pixel Watch 4 does resemble its predecessors too closely, Google will have to rely on new colors, materials, and rumored enhancements such as a revamped charging system to encourage upgrades. The Pixel Watch 4 is expected to be unveiled alongside the Pixel 10 series at an event on August 20.
