Samsung’s Project Moohan and ‘Galaxy Z Trifold’ Set to Launch in 2025

Samsung continues to push the envelope of innovation with the recent launch of its Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. The foldable devices are performing impressively, surpassing sales figures from previous models.

Yet, the tech giant is not resting on its laurels; it is gearing up for the introduction of a brand-new foldable device later this year. Whispers about Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone have been circulating for some time.

Clarity emerged during Samsung’s Q2 2025 earnings call, where officials indicated that the tri-fold device is on track for release within the next five months. This announcement arrived alongside information that the Galaxy S25 FE will debut earlier than usual, suggesting a potential launch window in late August or early September.

The timing aligns with the anticipated rollout of the Tab S11 series, indicating an exciting period filled with new releases for Samsung. Additionally, Project Moohan is a significant part of the company’s strategy, focusing on expanding its ecosystem through innovative devices like the TriFold and an upcoming extended reality (XR) headset.

Samsung’s executives reinforced their commitment to leading the market with cutting-edge products during the earnings call. The anticipated Galaxy Z Trifold is expected to feature a unique G-shaped fold, differentiating it from existing models.

It will boast a durable titanium frame and utilize the latest Snapdragon chip for top-tier performance. Meanwhile, Project Moohan involves collaboration with Qualcomm and Google, leveraging the new Android XR operating system for enhanced user experience.

The initiative aims to simplify controls and offer specialized controllers for more refined activities, such as gaming. As Samsung prepares to unveil these promising products, the global availability of the devices is still in question.

Customers outside Korea and China might need to temper their excitement for now.
