Android Auto 14.1 beta is now being released, adding support for select Android games. Among the available titles are popular games such as Angry Birds 2 and Candy Crush Soda Saga.
This version also features a new full-screen mode designed specifically for gaming. Historically, Android Auto has garnered attention for issues related to connectivity and bugs.
Recently, Google launched Android Auto 14 to the stable channel, which included temperature controls and other enhancements. Additionally, Google hinted at plans to replace the Assistant with Gemini in vehicles.
Just days later, they rolled out Android Auto 14.1, marking the exciting introduction of gaming capabilities directly on your car’s infotainment screen. Previously, Android Auto offered a narrowed down selection of HTML5 games through GameSnacks for lower-end hardware.
However, as part of the March 2025 Android Feature Drop, the new Android Auto 14.1 allows users to display select Android games installed on their phones on their car displays. According to 9to5Google, the rollout for this beta build is now live for users in the Play Store beta channel.
Players can enjoy games like Angry Birds 2, Beach Buggy Racing, Candy Crush Soda Saga, and Farm Heroes Saga on their infotainment systems. It’s likely that Google will continue to expand the list of supported games, but these are the initial offerings.
Notably, the games can be played over both wired and wireless Android Auto connections. Your gaming experience will depend on your car’s make and model, and older vehicles may present a less stable experience.
Make sure to launch and set up the game on your phone with the required permissions before trying it through Android Auto. In addition to gaming features, Android Auto 14.1 introduces a new full-screen mode for apps.
To exit this mode, simply swipe down from the top of the display to access the Exit option. However, it’s important to note that games can only be played when the vehicle is parked; moving out of park will terminate any ongoing game sessions and gray out their shortcuts.
If you aren’t part of the Android Auto beta channel, patience is necessary, as the gaming support will take a few more weeks to reach the stable channel. Alternatively, you can sideload the latest beta build for immediate access to these features.
