Walmart’s Onn 4K Plus with Google TV is generating buzz as a new streaming device that promises high-quality performance. The streamer is designed to provide 4K output and supports advanced features like Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. It is powered by a quad-core chipset, includes 2GB of RAM, and offers 16GB of storage.
Accompanying the device are a USB-C power cable and an HDMI cable. Walmart has a history of producing entry-level Google TV devices, and the Onn 4K Plus appears to follow suit. According to reports from Home Tester Reviews, an early review program has surfaced, revealing specifications and images of the device.
Although specific details, such as pricing and launch dates, remain elusive, initial reviews have been generally favorable. An image from one review shows the packaging’s back, which details the device’s specifications, including its support for 4K resolution and Dolby technologies. While the exact chipset is not mentioned, it’s suggested to be a quad-core chip alongside a G310 V2 GPU, possibly the Amlogic S905X5M.
Notably, the storage capacity is double that of its predecessor, the Chromecast with Google TV, which could be a significant selling point. The Onn 4K Plus comes with a remote that resembles the one included with the Onn 4K Pro; however, it features a white color scheme instead of black. Unlike some pricier devices, it includes an HDMI cable, and the power connection is updated to a USB-C format.
Additionally, the package provides adhesive to mount the streamer to the back of a television. Overall, early feedback indicates a positive reception, with 73 percent of 70 reviews on Home Tester Reviews awarding it five stars. While there is optimism about its performance and features, we still await more information on its pricing and official launch date.
More details are expected in the coming weeks.
