YouTube’s mobile app has introduced an updated channel search function that features a horizontally scrollable list of recent videos directly in the search results. This enhancement streamlines the process for users to access new content more swiftly. The new user interface (UI) is aligned with YouTube’s 2025 roadmap for better discoverability, replacing the previous, less efficient channel card that required users to make an extra tap to view recent uploads.
The revamped channel card now highlights color accents derived from the channel’s profile picture, adding a vibrant touch. This feature is being rolled out to both iOS and Android users, and some may need to update their app or clear their cache for it to appear. Earlier this year, YouTube made significant commitments for 2025, pointing to various improvements aimed at maintaining its influence as the “epicenter of culture.”
One of the focal points of its strategy is enhancing the discoverability of creators and their content, and the recent update to channel search contributes exactly towards that goal. In a subtle yet impactful change, the mobile apps have shifted towards a much more immediate channel search experience. Previously, when users searched for a channel by name, they would see a single video from that channel followed by its account card, including the subscriber count and an option to subscribe.
If users wanted to navigate through the channel’s full upload list, it required several additional taps. Now, the new UI provides a larger channel card at the top of the search results, showcasing the latest videos in a visually appealing horizontally scrollable format. The essential information, like channel handle, subscriber count, total video count, and options to subscribe or view the channel, remains prominently displayed.
This change makes it easier for users to find the content they want quickly, reducing the need for extra clicks. The new design is currently available for users with the YouTube beta version 20.14.36 and is gradually rolling out to the stable version. If the update doesn’t appear immediately, users can try force-restarting the app or clearing the cache.
