The rollout of Samsung’s One UI 7 update has been notably slow, but Galaxy S23 owners in the US are now beginning to receive this much-anticipated upgrade. Various US carriers are currently distributing One UI 7 for both the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold/Z Flip 5 foldables.
This update introduces a variety of user interface changes that draw inspiration from Apple’s iOS, featuring enhancements like a vertical app drawer and several integrations of Galaxy AI. Samsung initially faced delays in delivering the Android 15-based One UI 7 update and set a mid-April rollout date, which was quickly put on hold due to a major bug.
However, the company promptly resumed the rollout for the Galaxy S24 series and the Z Fold/Z Flip 6 models. Now, it is the Galaxy S23 owners’ turn, with some carrier-locked versions of the phone receiving the update just before the weekend.
Reports indicate that US Cellular and Xfinity Mobile have started to roll out the update for the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. Additionally, Verizon has made the update available for these devices and for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.
This implies that it won’t be long before other models, including unlocked variants, gain access to the update. While South Korea typically leads in receiving Samsung’s software updates, devices like the Galaxy Tab S9 have already seen the One UI 7 update, with the Galaxy Tab S10 following shortly.
Those yet to receive the update can navigate to Settings, Software update, and tap Download and install to check for availability. Users can expect several changes with the One UI 7 update, including a vertical app drawer by default, though a horizontal option remains available.
Samsung’s Galaxy AI continues to play a significant role, along with various enhancements to the home screen, the Now Bar, AI Select, and features related to Google Gemini.
