Samsung Pay Introduces Tap-to-Send Money Feature for Easy Transactions Between Phones

Samsung Wallet is set to launch a new Tap to Transfer feature, enhancing peer-to-peer payments for its users. This feature allows customers to send money directly in person by simply tapping their Galaxy phone against the recipient’s device using NFC technology or even utilizing a physical tap-to-pay debit card. In addition to facilitating in-person transactions, Tap to Transfer also supports remote payments. This innovative feature will be available to all Samsung Wallet users in the United States starting later this month.

With Samsung Galaxy devices, users have access to alternatives to the popular Google apps that are commonly included with most Android smartphones. However, some of these Samsung-exclusive applications don’t quite match the widespread appeal of their Google counterparts due to limitations in functionality or device compatibility. Despite this, several Galaxy apps, including Samsung Wallet, are recognized for their extensive features and user-friendly design. In fact, many experts advise users against deleting Samsung Wallet from their devices, given its reputation for efficiency.

To further solidify its place as an essential tool, Samsung has announced significant upgrades to its wallet app, aimed at simplifying money transfers. The Tap to Transfer feature operates through a partnership with Visa and Mastercard, enabling users to send funds directly from the debit cards stored in their Samsung Wallet to the bank accounts of friends and family without needing an external app. Users can execute transactions either by tapping their device against a recipient’s phone to send money to a digital wallet or by tapping a compatible debit card, even if the recipient does not have a digital wallet. These new capabilities not only streamline payments but also offer the convenience of group payments and transfers to individuals not saved in the user’s contact list.

Additionally, users can complete transactions remotely by locating the recipient’s Samsung account, eliminating the necessity for both parties to be physically present. With the rollout scheduled for later this month, users are eagerly anticipating whether the user experience will live up to Samsung’s promises.
