Moto Tag Update Enhances Google’s Find Hub with Accurate Ultra-Wideband Location Features

Recently, Google has dedicated significant resources to enhancing its Find Hub application. The platform has undergone a major rebranding and a complete user interface refresh.

For users who haven’t accessed the app for a while, the transformation from its former identity as Find My Device is remarkable. A notable upgrade comes from the introduction of the Moto Tag firmware, which adds a critical feature that has long been available in Apple’s Find My and AirTag systems.

As reported by Artem Russakovskii, the founder of Android Police, a firmware update for the Moto Tag is now available. When users install this update, they can enjoy the benefits of the tracker’s precise Ultra-wideband (UWB) finding functionality through the Find Hub app.

To access the new firmware, users first need to update the Moto Tag app, which is currently rolling out on the Play Store. For those eager to bypass the waiting period, it is possible to sideload the update from APKMirror.

After updating, users can navigate to the Find Hub app, select their Moto Tag, and activate the “Find nearby” option. This will launch the precise UWB finding interface that requests users to hold their phones upright.

A user-friendly Material You arrow will then guide them directly to the Moto Tag, indicating the exact distance from the tracker. At present, the Moto Tag is the sole device in the Google Find Hub ecosystem equipped to support UWB finding.

During the recent I/O event, Google revealed that more devices are on the horizon, including luggage with built-in trackers and Disney-themed tags. However, it remains unclear whether these upcoming products will also incorporate Ultra-wideband technology.

Additionally, Google has hinted at upcoming satellite connectivity features for Find Hub, expected later this year. With these advancements, Android Bluetooth trackers are beginning to match the capabilities of Apple’s AirTags.
