The Galaxy Z Fold 7 Might Not Receive the Significant Durability Improvement You Were Expecting

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is generating significant excitement among tech enthusiasts in the US, as it’s one of the few new foldable phones slated for release in the market. While foldable smartphones are becoming increasingly popular, their high price points continue to limit their prevalence. Fortunately, Samsung will soon reveal its latest innovations at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9.

Preceding the event, numerous leaks have emerged regarding Samsung’s forthcoming devices. Reports suggest that the Z Fold 7 might be the brand’s thinnest foldable to date. Although achieving a slimmer design could lead to some compromises, it appears that durability will not be sacrificed.

Recent leaks indicate that the Z Fold 7 will maintain an IP48 rating, consistent with the previous model. According to insider PandaFlash, the IP48 rating assures users of solid protection from dust and moisture. This rating entails that the device can endure immersion in fresh water at a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, provided it remains stationary.

It’s essential to note that these tests were conducted in water temperatures ranging from 15 to 35 °C, and exposure to other liquids can compromise the device’s integrity. Additionally, the IP48 rating offers defense against physical particles larger than 1mm in size. While this year’s model may not showcase a significant upgrade in durability, it still represents a step forward for Samsung’s foldable lineup.

Alongside the Z Fold 7, the company is expected to unveil the Z Flip 7, featuring a sizable outer display, along with new wearables, including a possible return of the Classic line equipped with a rotating bezel. Although the design may bring noticeable changes, it remains speculative until the official announcement. For those interested in Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones, registering for updates before the July 9 event is advisable.

Registration not only guarantees the latest news, but also rewards participants with a $50 credit towards accessories with their new phone purchase.
