Verizon’s Unlimited Ultimate plan is set to enhance its offerings by including at least 200GB of premium hotspot data each month. Additionally, there are rumors about the introduction of international calling from the US to various countries, complementing the existing international texting feature.
Some customers have also begun receiving notifications about an increase in their international mobile data allowance to 15GB. However, it’s important to note that “unlimited” phone plans often come with restrictions.
Many users have experienced situations where unlimited data was limited or throttled. Despite this, Verizon’s top-tier plan does allow unfettered mobile data while still enforcing specific limitations.
Recently, prominent tech commentator Sneed Mobile Tech uncovered information suggesting that Verizon may soon extend the mobile hotspot data cap and add unlimited calling features for its Unlimited Ultimate plan. To be fair, the mobile data on the Unlimited Ultimate plan truly doesn’t have a data cap or throttling, although users have reported receiving warnings regarding excessive data usage after hitting the 1TB threshold for several months.
While it is technically possible to consume that much data on a smartphone, it is not common. Other data uses beyond typical surfing and streaming do have restrictions.
Presently, the $100/month plan offers 60GB of unthrottled mobile hotspot data before speeds are significantly reduced. The anticipated changes also include international calling, which is a major upgrade for users often needing to communicate with individuals outside of Canada and Mexico.
Additionally, a potential increase in the international mobile data allowance to 15GB is being discussed, providing more flexibility for frequent travelers. Verizon has also announced a three-year price lock on plans, ensuring that customers’ base costs won’t increase.
Other enticing perks include free satellite texting and discounted access to popular streaming services. However, Verizon clarifies that plan perks, taxes, and fees may change, which could lead to potential increases in costs labeled as regulatory fees.
In a refreshing change, these new options and flexibility regarding price locks are available to both existing and new subscribers, ensuring that long-term customers are not treated as second-class citizens.
