Google Fi is celebrating its 10th anniversary by launching a new, budget-friendly Unlimited Essentials plan that starts at just $35 per month. In addition to introducing this plan, the service has significantly increased the high-speed data caps for its existing Unlimited Standard and Unlimited Premium plans without changing their prices.
To commemorate the milestone, Google Fi is also running a limited-time promotion for new customers, offering the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3 effectively for free through bill credits. Initially launched as Project Fi on April 22, 2015, the service has evolved from a single plan to multiple options catering to both unlimited and pay-as-you-go users.
Previously, the most affordable plan without data restrictions was Simply Unlimited, which cost $50 per month. This has now been rebranded as Unlimited Standard, while the new Unlimited Essentials plan takes its place as the most economical choice.
Although Unlimited Essentials offers unlimited calls, texts, and data (with the first 30GB at high-speed), it does not include hotspot tethering or coverage in Canada and Mexico, which helps lower the cost. The Unlimited Standard plan now provides 50GB of high-speed data, an increase from 35GB, while still costing $50 per line.
On the other hand, Unlimited Premium has increased its high-speed data cap to 100GB (up from 50GB) without changing the $65 monthly fee. Furthermore, Google Fi is introducing new data-only eSIMs, enabling easy internet setup for devices like Android tablets and iPads.
The international 5G data coverage for the Unlimited Premium and Flexible plans is extending to 54 additional countries, bringing the total to 92. Lastly, the promotion for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3 includes an instant discount of $300 on the Pixel 9 Pro, with the remaining amount credited over 24 billing cycles.
New customers will also receive $100 off on the Pixel Watch 3 when purchasing the Pixel 9 Pro. However, this offer is only available until April 29, making it a limited-time opportunity for those interested in a new flagship device.
