Recent firmware developments reveal that Samsung is working on the Galaxy S25 FE, which is set to feature Android 16 and OneUI 8. This upcoming device is rumored to maintain the specifications of last year’s Galaxy S24 FE, ensuring consistency within Samsung’s Fan Edition lineup.
It is expected to launch between September and November, with more leaks likely to emerge as the release date approaches. The Galaxy S20 FE was immensely popular, solidifying the Fan Edition series as a staple in Samsung’s offerings.
Reports indicate that firmware development for the Galaxy S25 FE has already begun, specifically for the US unlocked model identified by the code SM-S731U, with a firmware version number of S731USQU0AYDH. This progression hints at an impending launch later this year.
The S25 FE will run Android 16 paired with OneUI 8.0 upon release. While it’s anticipated to receive up to seven years of major updates, this has yet to be officially confirmed.
Details surrounding the design suggest a slimmer profile; however, the battery capacity is likely to remain unchanged. Speculations also indicate that the device will be powered by the Exynos 2400e chip, the same found in the Galaxy S24 FE.
Moreover, the Galaxy S25 FE is expected to be equipped with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, a minimum of 256GB of storage, and a new 12MP front camera. The rear camera setup seems to mirror that of the S24 FE, featuring a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and an 8MP telephoto lens.
It will retain the same charging speeds and IP67 water and dust resistance. Samsung typically releases its FE models in the fall, making a mid-to-late 2023 debut for the Galaxy S25 FE highly probable.
