Brave has unveiled a new feature for its Android browser called “Block Elements,” designed to help users minimize visual clutter on web pages. This enhancement allows users to selectively block specific elements by tapping on the Shields icon, opting for “Block Element,” and choosing the desired item to conceal. What’s more, users can easily restore blocked elements, ensuring that the functionality of the website remains intact.
Brave stands out as one of the top privacy-focused browsers, boasting robust ad-blocking capabilities and strong security features. Users can further enhance their browsing privacy by adjusting the settings in the Shields feature, available on both desktop and mobile platforms. The latest addition to Brave for Android, the “Block Elements” option, gives users substantial control, elevating the browsing experience to a level that may evoke envy from Chrome desktop users.
To utilize the “Block Elements” feature, users need to ensure they have Brave for Android version 1.78 or newer. From there, by visiting any web page and tapping the Shields icon located in the URL bar, users can access the advanced controls. After scrolling down, they will find the “Block Element” option, allowing them to block one element at a time.
To conceal more elements, users will need to repeat these steps. Blocked elements can easily be restored by selecting the “Clear all blocked elements” option found in the Shields menu, but only after some elements have been blocked. This is a thoughtful feature, as continuously blocking elements might inadvertently disrupt the normal functionality of evolving websites.
Although Brave’s element-blocking function has been available on desktop for some time, the Android release adds a layer of convenience. While it’s a feature reminiscent of the uBlock Origin extension popular among Chrome users, Brave’s implementation is natively integrated into the app, promoting an effortlessly enhanced browsing experience suitable for all Android users.
