Google Calendar for Android is set to launch a feature that allows users to make calendars publicly shareable, a capability that has been available only on the web version until now. This new mobile functionality will enable users to change a calendar’s visibility to “public” directly within the app’s settings. Once a calendar is designated as public on the mobile app, the owner will have options to determine what information is visible to others.
For instance, users can choose to display just free/busy times or provide full event details. This is particularly useful for coordinating schedules, as it allows others to see your availability and even make changes or add new events. This feature could significantly benefit families looking to stay organized and on the same page.
Currently, users can share their calendars with individuals or specific groups through both the web and mobile applications. However, to make a calendar completely public, access to the web version has been necessary. According to findings reported by Android Authority regarding Google Calendar version 2025.20.0–760372935-release, it appears that Google is preparing to implement this public-sharing option directly within Android devices.
This feature will be included in the settings menu for each calendar, appearing as a new ‘Available to public’ toggle located between the ‘Shared with’ and ‘Default notifications’ settings. Despite not being a groundbreaking addition, this functionality is a welcomed enhancement, especially for those managing public-facing calendars. The roll-out of the public-sharing toggle is expected to occur in a future update, as it is not yet widely available.
In other updates related to Google Calendar, the application is beginning to exhibit elements of a Material 3 Expressive redesign. This includes subtle user interface changes, a redesigned floating action button (FAB), rounded corners for month and event chips, and the introduction of the new Google Sans Flex font.
