Google’s Gemini App Set to Thrive on Foldable Devices and Tablets Soon

Google is making strides to enhance the Gemini application designed for tablets, adopting a layout that closely resembles its web version. This new tablet layout is set to include a sidebar, which will grant users quick access to their chat history and allow them to initiate new conversations seamlessly.

However, there is currently no definitive timeline for when the public will receive this optimized layout for tablets and foldable devices. The team at Google has been consistently working to improve the Gemini app for Android, striving to deliver a superior user experience.

Recently, they revamped the look and feel of the prompt bar, enhancing its functionality by making options like Deep Research and Canvas more accessible. Despite these improvements, the app has yet to be optimized specifically for tablets and foldables, meaning users still encounter a subpar mobile layout with significant empty space when using larger screens.

Fortunately, this situation is likely to change as Google gears up to offer a more polished experience for big-screen users. In the latest beta of the Google app (v16.20.48.sa.arm64), the Android Authority team activated a unique Gemini interface tailored for tablets and foldables.

This layout mirrors that of the Gemini web version, featuring a left sidebar that enables quick access to previous conversations. Users can also easily start new chats or search through their discussions.

The sidebar can be hidden by tapping on a hamburger menu icon whenever desired. While there’s excitement surrounding the upcoming tablet layout, it may not arrive in the immediate future.

As foldable devices gain traction, the anticipated changes to Gemini are poised to significantly enhance the user experience. Google is known for testing various features and UI modifications, leaving the timeline for launching this tablet-optimized layout uncertain.

It’s plausible that the release could coincide with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold or the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s rollout in early July.
