Samsung’s One UI 8: Enhance Your Runs with Personalized Coaching Features and Support

Samsung is set to release One UI 8, based on Android 16, this summer. The update will bring various minor user interface refinements along with new animations, a redesign of the DeX interface, and an easier process for users to register for the beta program. This simplified registration will involve a two-step procedure and a dedicated “Beta space” within the Samsung Members app.

One of the most noteworthy features in One UI 8 is the introduction of a built-in “Running Coach.” This tool is designed to assess user fitness through a 12-minute run, collecting crucial data to create personalized training plans and monitor progress. Its capabilities will be enhanced when paired with a Galaxy Watch, as it will utilize heart rate data to adjust running intensity.

However, the Running Coach is expected to work independently of wearables as well. Samsung’s update will focus on minor adjustments rather than the extensive changes seen in Android 16’s Material 3 Expressive redesign. Users can look forward to an audio version of One UI 7’s Now Brief feature, a new ‘Private Album’ option in the Samsung Gallery, and other enhancements.

As reports indicate, the Running Coach will assess a user’s initial fitness level by prompting them to run for 12 minutes, after which it will develop a tailored running plan. This feature aims to help new runners by providing a structured approach to fitness without overwhelming them. Additionally, it will include “level up” assessments to adjust the intensity of workouts based on user performance.

Though it’s still uncertain when the Running Coach will be available, either in the first beta or after a stable release, it promises to be a valuable addition for fitness enthusiasts.
