Adobe Photoshop has launched in beta for popular Android smartphones that run on Android 11 or later and have at least 6GB of RAM. During this beta phase, users can access all premium features without charge.
This includes essential tools such as selections, layers, masks, and the innovative Tap Select feature, which streamlines the editing process. The app also incorporates AI-driven tools like the Spot Healing Brush and Generative Fill, both powered by Adobe’s Firefly model, enhancing the mobile editing experience.
Historically, Photoshop has been primarily a desktop application, often leaving mobile users searching for alternatives. However, this new release aims to bridge that gap, making powerful editing tools accessible on-the-go.
As announced on Adobe’s Newsroom, the Photoshop app for Android is available for download on the Google Play Store at no cost during its beta phase. This is great news for those who have long awaited a mobile version of Photoshop, especially considering the impressive features now included free of charge.
One notable feature is the Tap Select tool, designed specifically for mobile use. This allows users to perform quick adjustments like removing or changing image sections with just a tap, overcoming the challenges of editing on smaller screens.
In contrast to the iPhone version, which restricted some advanced tools to paid subscriptions, Android users can benefit from these features at no cost during this testing phase. Additionally, the integration of the Spot Healing Brush tool lets users effortlessly eliminate imperfections.
With a focus on AI capabilities, Photoshop Mobile also introduces functionalities like Generative Fill, allowing for the quick addition of new elements to images. Although the beta period may not last indefinitely and Adobe might eventually revert to a subscription model, the current opportunity to access full features for free is a significant advantage for mobile photo editors.
