Google relaxes Gemini 2.5 Pro query limits for paid AI Pro subscribers.

At the recent Google I/O event, Google announced a rebranding of its Gemini Advanced subscription plan, now known as Google AI Pro. This plan, which costs $20 per month, offers users enhanced access to the Gemini AI in Workspace apps, Veo 3, additional storage, and the latest advanced features, including Gemini 2.5 Pro and its Deep Research capabilities. Originally introduced in March, Gemini 2.5 Pro was exclusively available to paying users, but Google soon extended its availability to free users.

However, these free users faced limitations, such as a smaller context window and strict rate limits. To further distinguish between the free and paid tiers, Google has now increased the query limit for Google AI Pro subscribers, allowing users who rely heavily on the AI to take full advantage of its improved reasoning, mathematics, and coding functionalities. For context, Gemini 2.5 Pro’s usage capabilities are categorized into levels: users without a paid plan experience ‘limited access’, while Google AI Pro users enjoy ‘expanded access’.

The highest access level is reserved for those subscribed to the Google AI Ultra plan, which costs $250 per month. For subscribers of the $20 monthly AI Pro plan, the daily limit for queries has increased significantly from 50 to 100, as announced by Google VP Josh Woodward. He expressed gratitude to users for their feedback and for their active engagement with the AI model.

This change is designed to enhance user experience for those who actively pay for the service rather than receiving it as a complimentary feature with new Pixel devices. As a result, users should find using the AI more efficient and less frustrating moving forward.
