Google is set to replace Google Assistant with its new AI assistant, Gemini, which will take over all digital assistance duties as Assistant is phased out later this year. This transition marks a significant development in the way users will interact with Google’s AI technologies. One of the standout features being introduced with Gemini is “Scheduled Actions.” This functionality allows users to automate recurring tasks and customize information delivery at designated times.
By streamlining daily routines and providing personalized updates, Scheduled Actions aim to enhance user experience and efficiency. Currently rolling out to Google AI Pro and Ultra plan subscribers, Scheduled Actions promise to deliver proactive assistance similar to the Routines offered by Google Assistant. Users will be able to instruct Gemini to carry out specific tasks at specific moments, ultimately empowering them to manage their routines more effectively. Examples of the capabilities being introduced include receiving a daily summary of your calendar and unread emails at a designated time, generating blog post ideas on Mondays, and obtaining updates about favorite sports teams following their games.
Other potential uses might involve receiving a “word of the day” with its definition, weekend news summaries on Monday mornings, or dinner recipe suggestions in advance. As highlighted in Google’s recent blog post, users will have the flexibility to manage Scheduled Actions through a dedicated settings page, allowing them to edit or remove these tasks as necessary. Although availability is currently limited to paid plan holders, it is anticipated that this feature will soon roll out to all Gemini users.
