Samsung has rolled out a significant update to its SmartThings app, with version 1.8.33.25 now available for some users via the Galaxy Store and Play Store. This new version enhances various app features and introduces a fresh method of sharing your Galaxy Tag’s location, while also integrating SmartThings into the Now Bar for added convenience.
The previous major update in April added numerous functionalities, including voice message broadcasting for smart speakers and compatibility with the Matter 1.4 standard. New development insights from Samsung tipster @theordysm indicate that version 1.8.33.25 now supports the Now Bar and Live notifications for SmartThings.
Users can enable this feature by navigating through Settings to the Lock screen and Always On Display, where they can toggle on Live notifications for a seamless experience on both the lock screen and the notification panel. Additionally, users can explore a new ‘Home Life’ section.
Upon first accessing this area, a quick survey prompts users to provide information about their household and interests. The app leverages these responses to offer personalized insights and recommendations tailored to specific needs—be it about pets, energy usage, or family care.
Another noteworthy feature is the addition of pre-execution confirmations for routines. This means the app will request user approval through a notification before executing a set routine, adding a layer of control.
Moreover, the update allows for temporary sharing of your Galaxy Tag’s location through a link, which remains active for a chosen duration. This flexible sharing option accommodates up to five recipients, who must log in with a Samsung account to access the link.
Lastly, the app now remembers the last view you were on during your previous session, making it more user-friendly. If you exit while in the Map View, for instance, the app will open back to that same view, enhancing the overall user experience.
