YouTube Premium Raises Prices in Australia to Over $39 per Month

In January of this year, YouTube TV implemented a price increase, raising the monthly fee from $73 to $83. Since then, there have been no announcements of additional price hikes for YouTube TV or YouTube Premium in the United States. However, developments in Australia may provide insight into potential future changes.

Australian users of YouTube Premium recently reported on Reddit that the streaming platform is raising the price of its family plan from $33 AUD to $40 AUD, a $7 increase that represents a 21 percent rise. When converted to U.S. dollars, this means the price increases from approximately $21.40 to $26 per month. In contrast, the existing family plan pricing in the U.S. remains at $23 per month.

Currently, the individual, student, and lite plans appear to be unaffected by these changes. As usual, the official communication highlights that the price increase aims to enhance service quality and features, and it will take effect on users’ next billing cycle. While there is no confirmation regarding price hikes for the other plans in Australia, comments from users suggest that the family plan increase may also be spreading to Europe.

Researching the French YouTube Premium page revealed that the family plan price has also increased from €25.99 to €29.99 as of September last year. Although we couldn’t confirm similar hikes in other European countries, the trend across multiple regions raises concerns that users in other parts of the world may soon face similar price adjustments. This situation adds an air of uncertainty for subscribers who may need to brace for future increases.
